Phone / Email Communication

If you need to talk to me, please call 919-786-0603 and leave a message in my voicemail box, with phone numbers and call-back times during the day and early evening. I am usually able to return all calls within one or two days. If you need more than a ten-minute phone consult, please schedule an office appointment. In addition, you may contact me by email at smcclurephd@gmail.com. Due to the HIPPA privacy law, I do not send detailed clinical information by email, but will place any emails that you send to me in the clinical chart for you or your child.

An initial appointment time of 60 minutes will be reserved for you. Subsequent appointments may vary but generally run for 45 minutes to an hour. It is important that you make an effort to be on time for your appointments. Also, please give my office at least 24 hours notice if you must cancel your appointment, so that someone else may be given this time. Except in an emergency, you will be charged for a late cancellation (less than 24 hours advance notice) or a no-show (not calling me to explain your absence.) Missed appointments are not reimbursed by insurance companies, and you will be responsible for a $50 cancellation fee.

Payment and Insurance

If you have mental health insurance, please check your policy carefully to determine your coverage for “out-patient mental health” or “out-patient therapy” visits. I file for the Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance programs of Blue Options, Blue Advantage, Anthem, and Blue Care. Clients who have other insurance plans will need to file their own insurance. At the end of each session, I will collect your payment in the office and give you a receipt that will have all the necessary information for you to submit to your insurance company. I use Apex Management & Billing Services, Inc. for filing BCBS patient claims. If we file for you and your insurance does not pay us, it will be your responsibility to pay the bill in a timely manner. My office accepts checks or cash. I also accept credit cards with a processing fee.
